What's in My Travel Bag and Makeup

This weekend I took a short trip back home to visit family in Texas, and although I was shivering most of the time from the cold (LA has me spoiled!) it was really nice to see my parents, my adorable pups, and catch up with some of my best friends from high school days.

For the most part, I usually do a good job of not over-packing, so I want to share some of my traveling essentials for this short and sweet trip as well as some of my current reads.

  1. My beloved black studded purse (works great for storing a lot of items, but still compact enough for going out on the town with friends)
  2. Michael Kors wrislet wallet (the perfect size for ID and credit cards)
  3. One pair of Ray Bans Aviators (classic and goes well for every outfit)
  4. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (my new obsession – very beautiful neutral shades with a pop of color)
  5. Em Cosmetics face powder (has a giant mirror and great for touch-ups!)
  6. Benefit makeup bag (very cute and travel friendly)
  7. Reading material: Glamour Magazine, my everyday planner (can’t live without!), and my beloved Kindle

Is it just me or do you guys ever jump from book to book? I tried to dedicate myself to one book at a time, but depending  on my mood I like to switch it up from a  love story to a comedy or even a self-help book for some daily motivation.

Author Mandy Hale is one of my favorite relationship gurus (along with Carrie Bradshaw of course), so I thoroughly enjoyed “The Single Woman” and highly recommend her other book too “I've Never Been to Vegas, but My Luggage Has". Hale's stories are entertaining, but also inspiring for both the hopeless romantic and the career girl. Other two books I’ve heard nothing but amazing things from friends are “Yes Please” by Amy Poehler and "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin, so I'm currently juggling all three.

Although I packed a full makeup bag, I ended up wearing a bare face for the majority for the weekend. When it comes to makeup, I love having options and sometimes go a bit too crazy, but I’m still quite proud of keeping it pretty minimal nonetheless.

What did you guys do this weekend?!

XO

  1. Great tips! A large carry-on bag is always necessary! Kudos to you for juggling three books. I don't think I could ever do that. Definitely a one book at a time kind-of-girl :)
